Improved archiving and Product deletion

Having the ability to completely remove items from the database would be incredibly useful.
At the moment, I have resorted to creating a category called “Archived”, this still comes with drawbacks. The items remain searchable, contribute to database clutter reporting, and slow down what should be simple day-to-day processes. Unfortunately, this is somewhat inevitable in an ever-changing industry where products, SKUs, and supplier data are constantly evolving.
Being able to fully remove an item would allow us to keep our data clean and significantly improve efficiency across the system.
Having ILC's that are not needed or will never be used again is unnecessary
I understand there may be technical or reporting implications behind the scenes as to why removing items is disruptive to how Citrus Lime operates. If full deletion is not feasible, an improved archiving option could be a strong alternative.
Ideally, this would allow an item to be archived “as is, fully hidden from daily use, searches, and workflows, and only accessible via a cloud report or dedicated archive view, with the option to restore it if required. This would ensure all historical data Citrus Lime relies on remains intact, without it getting in the way of active operations.
When restoring an archived item, if the ILC or associated data is already in use, it would be extremely helpful to have the option to merge with an existing item or amend the data before continuing.
I believe either of these options would have a genuinely big impact on keeping databases clean and improving overall usability.

I've asked for this numerous times. As the store owner, I need the ability to actually delete items that were mistakenly built and never used. In some cases, I would like the right to remove an item even if it has been used in the past. The archived items show up in too many places, confusing my staff. They look like items that can be used to bring inventory into stock. These "archived" items are duplicates of Item Codes I do want them to use. It should be my perogative to delete problem Item Codes. Give me a warning about what it will mean if I delete it. If I agree the impact is worth the headache of having an Item Code I don't want around anymore, then I should be able to chose to make that decision. It's my data and my headache if I mess up.

There is a field called ‘active’ which would allow you to achieve your goals. items can still be sold if scanned but are otherwise hidden in the back office and POS. There are wizards to set the field.

Neil McQuillan - CEO Citrus-Lime Currently, when an Item is no longer needed, the system only allows it to be Archived or marked Inactive rather than fully deleted. In practice, this creates ongoing operational issues. Archived and Inactive Items continue to appear in lists, searches, and reports, and this introduces confusion, impacts inventory accuracy, and adds unnecessary noise to daily workflows.
There are many legitimate cases where an Item truly should be removed from the system entirely. While I understand the need to protect data integrity and prevent accidental loss of historical records, the current approach places the burden on users to work around lingering data that is no longer relevant.
Because this is our business data, we should have the ability to delete Items when we knowingly choose to do so — provided the system clearly communicates the consequences. For example, a confirmation message such as:
“Deleting this Item will affect historical reports, past transactions, and inventory records. Do you wish to proceed?”
would ensure informed decision-making while still giving users appropriate control.
At present, the handling of Archived and Inactive Items is not conducive to efficient daily operations, particularly regarding inventory management and reporting accuracy. I encourage you to reconsider the design so users can permanently delete Items when appropriate, with transparent warnings rather than a forced archive-only approach.

I had another issue with this today. I was trying to check in a Kenda Krusade Sport tire. In the PO area, when I looked for the item, 4 came up. Two of the items were exactly the same -- 20x4 Kenda Krusade Sport Tires in Black. That means I almost selected an Inactive item, that would mess up my inventory at point of sale and other reports. When I use the Item area to look up the tire, the inactive doesn't show (because there's a button to select Active only or show Inactive. We really need for all inactive items to not show up unless we specifically ask to see inactive items.

Neil McQuillan - CEO Citrus-Lime if we could merge item A into Item B and have the ability to totally remove item A from the database, this would really help towards keeping the back office tidy.
We have a few Bulk items we have now made "Master SKU's" for and merged the existing codes into it, we are now left with a lot of ILC's that are not needed and taking up a lot of space.
