Item at multiple BIN locations
planned

Eddie
Currently all stock of an item can only be assigned to a single BIN location. It would be more realistic to allow items to be assigned to multiple BIN locations in various quantities. Using the wizard we can only assign ALL of an item to a BIN location but we need to select the quantity to be assigned so the missing column in the wizard is 'Quantity'.

Neil McQuillan Hi, is there a timeline when this great function will be available?
Neil McQuillan
Stefan Pinter: Once the backoffice 2.0 piece is completed, which is progress well. I reviewed concepts for the purchase orders screen this morning, which look awesome.
Neil McQuillan
This will definitely be coming after the new POS 2.0 backoffice launches. It's likely to be the first major feature we add after the launch.

Neil McQuillan: Brilliant news.

Neil McQuillan: i was told two weeks ago by support that this was not coming anytime soon. When you say Likley, iS IT actually planned or could be another 6 months or more?
Neil McQuillan
Nick Johnston: It will definitely be more than six months, we require the Cloud POS 2.0 back office to be completed, and we've just started that piece of work, to add this feature and it will require changes to the UI, database and Cloud POS API, but we are 100% committed to implementing the feature.

We would hugely benefit from this functionality also.
Not only when there is significant volumes of a particular SKU that needs to be stored across multiple bins, but this will help with finding stock that could be both in a warehouse and on the shop floor.
It would speed up picking and also the putting away of stock from goods in and returns.

Rob Caine: We absolutely agree. I would think that the majority of retail outlets will have a SKU in more than one location. e.g stock box and on display on the shop floor. Very frustrating that we cannot have multiple locations for items as it does make picking online orders and replenishing the shop floor difficult.

Having multiple locations for the same SKU, coupled with the existing functionality of more then one SKU per location significantly increases the density of storage. And storage is expensive.
E
Eddie
Tom Bowden: the system needs to reflect the reality of your customers operations and sku are stored in multiple locations. I can appreciate that this may be challenging in terms of resources and given the time that's past I'll assume that you have really given this some thought. Is there no way to achieve the assigning of an sku to multiple bins in an efficient way? I wonder if anyone else has an alternative approach that serves this need....

Eddie: we have looked into this and we have not found a work around other than two stores which has caused further issues.

We are just starting to set up stock location system and inevitable items are in 3 places at once. We need to be able to find them for internet orders and this can be quite a mission. Hence we need a robust stock location system with multiple locations listed. Thank you

Fiona I've personally spent an hour looking for a product that had been placed on a mannequin, so technically on the shop floor, but nowhere near the remainder of the stock. So frustrating, I'd just assumed that it had been "five finger discounted" before a flash of inspiration struck me!

Dear CL - this has been under review since January 2019! It has 48 of your customers keen to see it implemented...so a gentle nudge coming your way....

Improvements to warehouse stock management within Cloud POS is something which is on our roadmap for the future.
At the moment we're focusing on modernizing the platform and improving reliability and speed. Once this first step of modernizing the platform is complete, we'll be working on a new, faster user interface.
At the moment we're unable to give a timeframe for changes to warehouse stock management, but thank you for registering your interest in these changes.

Dan Donnan: Hi Dan I see many of the deveopment points you mentioned are already active or imminent. Can you plan a date for this request yet? It was first raised a year ago and seems fairly popluar.

Eddie: Hi Eddie,
We are still currently working on modernizing the platform, so have yet to reach the point on the roadmap where we could action this request. The next major step in the modernization will be an improved user interface which we are aiming to release early next year.
This request is linked to a development task so, once we start working on it, anyone watching this request should receive a notification.

Eddie
Dan Donnan: Hi Dan thank you for the response. I'll wait to hear.

Dan Donnan: any update to this? Thanks

Dan Donnan: Hi Dan - is there a date we can look forward to this important feature yet? It's over 19 months since the initial request.

Dan Donnan: looking when your post was entered, there must be an update?
N
Nick Johnston
Dan Donnan: Still be under review for this length of time? This would make life so much simpler for a number of reasons, most have been mentioned here.
What blocking it from happening ?

This was an issue even with the old RMS version and the only fix I had then was to list multiple bin locations in the bin field.
E
Eddie
@scott-hargrave-skiers-lounge-consultant: thanks for the reply Scott. Did that allow you to split inventory of an item between the different BIN locations?
