Purchase Orders // Scanning Items on Receive Stock Page

In Backoffice 2.0 please could the receive stock scanning be embedded on the page so that when you scan an item it makes a live change to the received stock counts on the page. In current backoffice you scan in to a box that does it in the background but if you have scanned many items this is open to errors by the time you hit complete on it.
Much better to have visibility as you are scanning. This worked very well in the days of Microsoft RMS.

Hi Ben,
I thought I'd share a screenshot of the concept for the Purchase Order Receipt page in Back Office 2.0. We're starting work on this page in our next sprint.
Our plan is to have the quick scan on the page instead of in a pop-up, and this will refresh the grid as items are scanned to receive.
Thanks,
Suzy

Suzy Weightman Amazing. The Goods In team will be really pleased with this!
Have you considered how it might display the last scanned item when you have a PO over multiple pages? It will be really useful when comparing the scanned item to an invoice if the line was in view after scan.

Ben Hi Ben,
No, that's not something we've considered yet as we're still to start building the page.
We could reorder the results, so it's ordered by last updated (i.e. the last scanned product would be at the top of the grid).
Do you have any other ideas?

Suzy Weightman Yes, that would work very well, and would be useful for checking back after scanning several items.
The only other idea our goods in team came up with was to have the last scanned item appear at the top as a kind of preview until the next item is scanned (without moving it from its sort order location).
All things considered though we prefer the way you suggested with it sorting by scanned/updated. This gives really good visibility and helps in the "oh, did I scan these items already" moments.

This screen is incomplete in the backoffice 2.0, however I feel confident the experience will be better. The BETA should arrive late spring time, ping me here if its still not to your liking. The BETA will allow the usage of 1.0 and 2.0 at the same time, so you are not forced to use the BETA full time.
