Resetting search criteria

Thanks for your feedback.
We retain the filters on these searches under certain circumstances, this is to help with the scenario where you might perform a search close the view and then go back - so you don't have to add your filters again.
For both searches -
- The filters are cleared when you complete a sale or No Sale (cancel)
I wonder if an improvement to this would be that when an item or a customer is selected we also clear any filters too?

Maybe make it like google...the search bar clears after the search, but if we start to type the same word, after we type the first letter or so, the words from our previous searches that start like that pop up as a selection option.

We added the 'memory' of the previous search after requests from customers not to clear it. I can see situations where I would want it remembered but equally others where I'd want it to clear, which makes it tricky to get this one right for all situations. I'm aware we have customer demand in both directions, we could add a configuration option, but that then makes the product inconsistent which makes it harder to support and train on. I want to be more positive here, but I'm at a loss as to howto square this particular circle.
What is the general view of the community on remembering or clearing searches?
