Tags for customers, items
David Bonilla
The ability to add tags to items and customers to help filter them in the search function globally would very helpful. Right now in the system if i don't have a specific word in a description it will not populate in search or POS. With a tags I can informally group like things with out the affecting them in the database. For example, Shift cables and Derailleur cables are the same thing. Both are correct ways to refer to the same item. Perhaps a more salient example, Petrol, Gas, Fuel. All are the same thing. With a tag I can group all that together rather than having to decide or impose a way of thinking on others while still accomplishing the same end result.

David, Conceptually this is a feature I like the idea of. When I created the very Cloud POS concept this was a feature which showed on the item card. The reporting implications are significant e.g. adding the tagging is pretty straightforward but where and how this can be reported on is a significant project particularly as items or customers might have many tags on them. Naturally I think it would surface in wizards as well.
Overall this is something I'd love to see, but the development implications are not insignificant.

Neil McQuillan - CEO Citrus-Lime I would not make it something that you can report on for the same reason I want it included. Tags in my mind are things that help with workflow ie. search not something I want to report on. I would let the reporting remain as it is thus keeping the integrity of the data. I would also keep it out of wizards unless it's to only mass tag things for the purposes of adding to the search function. When I want to report on something the current category, department etc standard works well.

David Bonilla agree it would be a useful process tool rather than reporting tool
