Two Factor Authentication

I appreciate the need for extra security however in order to begin work each day, setting up two tills and 1 office computer I am having to request 10 text messages, this is ridiculous and takes far too long. There should be 1 authentication to give a particular device access to backoffice, pos and MT.
Also there was no communication that I saw that this was being implemented!

Having to pay for each text message is the killer for us. If I can make it Authenticator app only it would be much better. It's turned off for now.

Peter Carol It hadn't occurred to me that we pay - is this charged on our monthly invoices?!
P

Emily Russell pretty sure it is. I didn't realise until a week or two after I was told we'd been charged for a lot of texts.

i think i've mentioned this in a different canny. there needs to be a single sign on for all areas otherwise you're right and getting mulitple messages. even worse when you have 10 people working in a shop and they have to keep signing in/out

I agree we had to deactivate it, must be a better way - and we were caught out with it going live too.

Hello Paul,
I hope you're keeping well.
We work with an opt-out model for 2FA settings and Cloud POS, and we'd strongly recommend keeping 2FA enabled for security purposes for your business.
That being said, this setting can be managed (enabled, enforced, or disabled) by the retailer in Back Office > Setup > Configuration.
There is more information on this here: https://howto.citruslime.com/41974-getting-started/how-do-i-set-up-2fa-for-my-cloud-pos-group if you need.
An email communication was sent to all retailers to let them know about the settings in advance. I'll double-check to ensure you are on our mailing list going forward.
NB - this does not cover your suggestion about a singular auth, but I thought I'd add this information here in case useful.

Laura Foster are you able to confirm if we have to pay for the text messages to be sent? Thanks :)

Laura Foster we need to be able to exclude texts, 6 staff with 4 or more log ins a day is very expensive over a year.

Emily Russell I have just checked with our Admin Team - yes, 2FA messages are charged at the regular SMS rate.
If required, cashiers can choose to set up with an Authenticator App only instead (skipping SMS).
NB - if you need to reset 2FA to set it up again, contact the Support Team and we can arrange that for you (we will need to do security checks/validation first).
Hope that helps!

Peter Carol Hey Peter,
If required, cashiers can use Authenticator App only when setting up their 2FA for the first time. This involves no SMS, and so no SMS billing.
NB - if you need to reset 2FA to set it up again, contact the Support Team and we can arrange that for you (we will need to do security checks/validation first).
Hope that helps!
