Functionality to block international delivery (or certain destinations) for set products

There are certain products we sell that we cannot (or do not want to) send internationally. Either because of flammable ingredients or particularly bulky items.
At the moment our solution to this has been to create a category message that we set on these products that displays on the product page.
With category messages no longer an option in Cloud MT and with a more rounded solution desired perhaps the following could be achieved:
1) On product detail pages in Cloud MT we could set "Excluded Shipping Destinations". We could then choose which countries to exclude based on the countries that are available in our checkouts shipping options. This would display prominently next to the "Add to Basket" button on item pages and in red next to the item in the basket.
2) If the above is too complex then perhaps just having an option to "Exclude international delivery" on the product detail page of Cloud MT would be useful. This would work in a similar manner on the front end to the above and would exclude shipping countries except for that of the stores location.
The screenshot is of our current solution.

This would be great, having to fudge things via the weight bands is not ideal.

This is definitely of use to us too, we have licensing restrictions that prohibit certain items being sent internationally, in addition to the bulky/uneconomic argument Ben suggests. Maybe an option would be to allow a simple message as above - To be selected like the method of buyers guides etc, that can be selected on a product level if no automation were possible. (same functionality could be used to highlight 'Click and Collect Only' line or even 'pre-order only'. preventing customers adding items to basket then being presented with the information at the checkout stage. )

Will (MR): Good to know. Could you give this page a vote to increase its chances of getting developed.

Will (MR): you can set oversize items to a specific or large weight that is excluded from some services/countries. you could also set up specific dangerous items as a specific weight that is outside the normall weight bands then only allow some services/countries to post that weight. the whole couier integration system is a mess as it doesnt take volumetric weight into concideration if you use royalmail they use physical weight but most other couiers use volumetric weight, with all the countries and all the weights you would have a million services to set up and a 999999 services to exclude as well, its nearly impossible to set up.

Hi Ben, I hope you're well. This isn't something that would be on our road-map I'm afraid. We have ideas in the pipeline in regards to the replacement of category messages and I'd suggest that, when the time comes that replacement is available, that you would use that.
I do find this interesting though, so I'll leave this open to see if there's any other interest in this topic.
