Sales by hour report

Hi,
Is there a report that shows sales by hour over a period — for example, one we could use to see which opening hours are the busiest and quietest during a given timeframe?
Maybe it already exists, but I couldn’t find it in Cloud Reports.
It would be great to have something like this to help decide opening hours and more.
Thanks

That would be really handy, I have used reports like this to plan staffing, it would be great to have access to day and time of in store transactions for this.

It would be a very handy report to have. I have to export the Margin Detail report into Access before I can run various hour and day summary reports across the stores and group. It would be much easier if our managers could see this data without having to reply on me to sort it out for them. Anything that helps manage staff costs is so useful.

Hi Eoghan,
There are a couple of ways to do this in Excel -
First, you can use the formula in a new column =MOD(A2,1) which will give you a field with just the Time of the transaction.
Secondly, you could use a pivot table to SUM the values - if you add Date as a row, you can then right click and select Group to only group by Hour as an example.
Let me know how you get on, I can ask a member of the support team to reach out and go through this with you in more detail if needed as it might be easier!
Thanks,
Suzy

Hi Eoghan,
Although we don't currently have a report in Cloud Reports which shows the data in this format - you would be able to export the Margin Detail report as the Date field in the export includes the time of the transaction (you'd need to change the cell format after export), and then use this data to split by hour.
I like this idea, so I'll wait to see if this post gains some traction and we could look to introduce this as a standard report in Cloud Reports.
Thanks,
Suzy

Suzy Weightman Thanks, Suzy. I’ve managed that to some extent, but it’s still grouping by day — e.g., when I download an extended date range, I can order by time of transaction, but each day is still grouped together. Do you know if there’s a way to avoid this day grouping and order everything purely by time?
What we need is to see long-term trends in which hours are the busiest trading periods so we can decide on staffing levels, opening hours, etc. We had this function on previous systems, and it was very useful.
Thanks, Eoghan
