Accessing Reward Accounts - Set up Password Email

We're a store in a destination area. We get customers who discover us and use us for the first time in-store. The account we create in store for them doesn't have a password.
if the customer tries to access it online, they have to re-enter all the data they gave us instore. It's also not very intuitive.
When we create their account instore, could a password email be sent at that time, it could be a triple whammy, prompting them to create the account, giving another oportunity to opt in to marketing and encouraging them to visit our site as well as securing their rewards account.

To use your account online all you need to do is enter your email address and postcode in the checkout and we auto link the accounts. If we only have an email match we ask the user to 2FA the email address to ensure people are not stealing other peoples rewards points.
I've just tested this and it works as I would expect.
There is no requirement to renter details so I'm a little confused. Here I've just created a new account and it's matched my Rewards account and I can use the points.

Agreed, i assumed this was already the case. This could be why we end up with duplicates

This would be a big improvement
