Add a filter to EXCLUDE certain products from promotion

So for example, we want to run a promotion with triple points on a brand for one weekend, but we have some clearance items from that brand on sale with 30% (or more) off, giving triple points on that transaction is great for the customer, but we make nothing and potentially lose money on that transaction.
The secondary filter at present only seems to allow me to include items, not exclude them.
A tertiary "negative" filter for exclusions could be useful in making rewards an even more powerful tool for driving sales.

Hello Pete,
The Customer Rewards promotions are set using a hierarchy. I've updated our Knowledge Base guidance on this to include some information as to how this works: https://howto.citruslime.com/52925-customer-rewards/customer-rewards-how-do-i-manage-point-generation-and-promotions?from_search=81558935#.
The example below gives an idea as to how the promotions inter-connect and work together. In this example, the retailer has set a promotion to apply double points on all items which have been set with the season of 2022. The promotion which is being used to block points means that even if a Bike belongs to the 2022 season. This is because the Department type ranks higher than the Season type.

To achieve what you are looking to do, you could exclude the individual Rab items that are currently on sale by setting an individual promotion using each product code (the 'One Product' type).
With regards to your request, would you be looking for a setting similar to the below mock-up?

Roxie Thomas: Hi Roxie, yes that looks like what I envisioned, so that as the promotion is being built, the exclusions could be added at the same time.

The promotion I tried that failed, I created a double points multiplier on a brand and then removed ALL points from the sale items. As per the screenshots below.

Pete Thats strange. Promotions apply in order, therefore if you have a negative one ahead of a positive one in the order that will apply and block the positive one.
I'll find some more information.

I have reopened the issue.

Neil McQuillan: So when I was running through this with support, I built the "promotion" first then added the negative removing the points from the sale item after the promotion was built, is that why it didn't work? It's the way it was suggested by the member of the support staff I was working with.

Pete This is possible by creating a negative promotion, for example no points on sale items. I suggest giving the helpdesk a shout they can run you thru your options.

Neil McQuillan: I did that, with one of the support team last week, before making this suggestion. It didn't work and the member of the support team, couldn't suggest another work around.
