Apple Pay Auto Refund - No Partial Refunds
complete

Auto refunds for apple pay only allow full refunds.
If a customer returns only 1 item of a multiple item order or you don't want to refund shipping (very common for us), you have to manually go into first data to do a partial refund. You then can't tender the return into apple pay. (throws an error as it's trying to auto refund in full)
The work around for this is to then tender into a different field, ie manual credit card, but this causes problems with accounts. It's important to tender to the right place.
If you cannot do a partial refund, like for sage or paypal, it is not useful.

Ben Kippax One of our team is raising it on live chat today but we are still experiencing issues with partial refunds.

Hey Ben:
Just looked into this for yourself and another customer.
Any orders placed prior to the new ecommerce update (25th May) to be precise (but orders on this day prior to the update are still affected), will need processing using the IPG Online FiServ Dashboard.
After, to be completely safe, the 26th May, you'll be able to use integrated refunds.

Ben Kippax: Thanks Ben. Appreciate that.

Jon Mayo Do you use ApplyPay, the last I can remember was that lack of refunds in POS meant it was not for you. It's a great way of driving up conversion rate.

Neil McQuillan - CEO Citrus-Lime: Thanks Neil, great, we agree, I`m in touch with Jenna to get this enabled again :-)

Jon Mayo: Great to hear glad the work is helping. On customer accounts where this is active it seems to increase conversion rate slightly and take sales from PayPal and it's a lot cheaper.
We've also managed the odd transaction thru Google Pay in testing but its as complex as ApplePay (and the documentation is often wrong) so a lot still to do on that one, but I'm looking forward to it, as Google Pay is common usage for Chrome users on both desktop, iPhone and Android).

Our testing team have successfully processing transactions, full refunds and partial refunds.
We'll be rolling out an update to your websites today.
Thanks for your patience, it's greatly appreciated.

Rob Caine After applying pressure on FirstData to provide partial refund support, we have made progress and have some new code to test and deploy.
I'll provide an update once testing is complete.

Hi all,
I've been in discussions with our FirstData regarding the inability to process partial refunds for Apple Pay transactions.
I'm applying pressure to get this issue resolved and if we're told it's impossible to process partial refunds automatically, then we'll look at other providers where this ability is possible.

Integrated Apple Pay Refunds - Allow Partial Refunds

This has now gone live but we find it very awkward that it does not allow partial refunds as a lot of our orders are partial. Not only this but if you then have to do this manually by logging in to the Firstdata portal to refund part of the amount you cannot put it through the same tender type making reconciliation more awkward.
As it stands we now find the new integrated refund of Apple Pay more of a hinderance than a help in its current form. Could it be changed to allow partial refunds like Sagepay and PayPal?

Integrated ApplePay / First Data Refunds

It seems a fix for ApplePay having it's own tender type coming soon which is good news. However to be complete solution the refunds using ApplePay need to be integrated with First Data in the same way that Sagepay ones are.
This would streamline processing refunds and avoid having to log in separately to First Data to manually refund - something that's not practical or desirable for staff to do in store if an online customer returns an online order there.

This has now gone live but not sure if anyone else finds it very awkward that you cannot refund partial orders? Not only this but if you then have to do this manually you cannot put it through the same tender type making reconciliation more awkward.

I will open a new Canny request to see if this can be changed.

Hey Rob Caine!
Unfortunately, partial refunds cannot be completed with Apple Pay tokens for the FirstData gateway. I understand that this is less than ideal. I'll move this to the Ecommerce board to track.
