when looking at the order dashbaord, because last month only had 28 days the figures shown repeat if there's more days this month than last. could this be re-worked maybe to just minus 31 days? or something similar

The ability to choose the date range shown here would be good and more typical of how systems like this should work. The limit to a fixed recent period feels like a hangover from a different era.
