DPD Pickup / Delivery 2 Store - New Checkout
Neil McQuillan
DPD pickup is not used by many of our customers, and we're pondering if this has value in the new checkout system. I'm a little confused looking at one of our customers they did 972 DPD next day orders of which 263 are DPD pickup last week, I suspect this will have greatly helped conversion rates for those consumers who cannot get deliveries to their office or home conveniently. We charge £0.30 per order, but DPD charge £0.99 less for DPD pickup orders to the customer, so the retailer Working Class Heroes saved £181.47 on last weeks next day orders over mailorder. The retailer in question charges the same for pickup orders as DPD home delivery.
Can I ask if other customers potentially see this service as useful Perhaps its a feature many customers are unaware of. At the current point in time, its hard to build a business case for this feature in new checkout, but it's an option I'm passionate about so I wonder why the uptake is low when its cheaper and leads to more orders.

DPD pickup or DPD ship to shop (both the same thing but even DPD call it different things) is a cracking service. We were using is a few years back but then we moved to using fulfilment centers, it became difficult.
Now we've overcome that issue, and the service is back. It does incredibly well for us. Neil is correct, we pay £0.99 less for that service than the standard DPD service, both are next day. Now we've got a few units moving through it we will be able to get it down another £0.50 or so.
Ship to shop or shipping to automated collection points are growing in favour every week, many customers will drop a basket if that option isn't available to them. If you live in a flat or city center, you don't want your parcel leaving on your doorstep.
