Let guest-checkout customers opt in to email marketing

Guest checkout has no way for a customer to opt in to email marketing. The only consent box is on the New Account form, and after a guest pays, the confirmation page just shows the order number. The only way a guest can give consent there is by creating an account with a password, which most don't.
For us (Scarborough Angling, live since 30 June 2026), that means 0 of our 79 customers so far have Email Opt-In set in Cloud POS. None of them was ever given a box to tick.
Request: an optional, unticked "Keep me updated by email" tick box that guests can use without creating an account. Either of these would do:
- on the customer or payment step of guest checkout, or
- on the order confirmation page, on its own, separate from "create an account".
It should set Email Opt-In / GDPR Allowed on the Cloud POS customer record, so it flows through to the Mailchimp integration and to consented-email tools like Google Ads Customer Match.
Most shoppers check out as guests, so at the moment the retailers with the most customers are the ones who can't build a mailing list.

An excellent post Simon, I'd also suggest, again, that a tick box to opt in for marketing under the email box, right at the start would also drive more sign ups, rather than leaving it right to the end when a customer is pretty much done with the site and is leaving.
