We have products that have no gender, such as artwork and horse bridles, but within MT the Gender field is mandatory. This leads us to selecting "Unisex" for these non-gender types of products, but the downside to this is that Unisex products display in both "Female" and "Male" filters.
Why this is a problem:
On a brand page of a brand that provides both gendered products (clothing) and non-gendered products (artwork or horse items), when a user selects either Male or Female in the filters they are shown our "non-gendered" items - when they're expecting to see male/female clothing.
I do understand why Unisex products are set to show in both Female and Male filters, because genuine unisex products are relevant to both. However, this isn't a solution for genuine non-gendered items.
Has there been any discussions around making the Gender field optional? It feels like this would be the ideal solution here, rather than us forcing a gender on an item that doesn't have one.
Thanks!
