Order 'size' filters for shoes category

I'm looking on our site for a new pair of road shoes (for myself) and found the ordering of the sizes difficult to navigate since it jumps around - it does go sequentially for a bit and then changes. See attached screenshot

We've been getting similar complaints from customers finding the way sizes are displayed confusing.
Could the sizing be displayed numerically according to the size terms number? 
Not sure if this is universal but on our site. Our clothing sizes are in a similar order;
Size 8 = size term 48
Size 8.5 = size term 49
Size 9 = size term 50
Size 10 = size term 51
Size 10 - size term 52
