Redeeming an online gift voucher

We have recently had a customer struggling to checkout when using an online gift voucher. The customer had 2 items in her basket totalling £44.20, she then inputted the gift voucher code and selected the standard delivery option at £3.95. Despite the total order being below the £50 gift voucher the website still required a payment option to be selected which caused confusion for both myself and the customer. In order to place the order you must select a payment option to be able to successfully checkout. We feel that this needs to be amended to avoid confusion.

Hi Jess, this is likely because vouchers cannot be claimed against shipping.
On orders with free shipping the UI can also be a bit confusing on the current checkout when there is nothing to pay. We are aiming to simplify this is Checkout v4.

Robert Flamson Hi Robert, this cannot be the case as the shipping was paid for using the gift voucher when I explained to the customer that she would need to select the 'pay with card' option despite not having to input any card details.

Jess: Apologies, this is my misunderstanding from the way the UI displays the shipping amount once a voucher has been applied.
I have checked with my colleagues and the voucher will cover shipping as you say.
These are things that will be improved in Checkout v4, that will be coming to all sites this year.
