Add 'Customer Type' field

I would like to be able to categorise my customers by 'type', e.g. renter / bike buyer. This is useful when exporting customer data for marketing purposes. We have also used it for contacting people on a waitlist for certain items e.g. trikes. Until now, I've been using the Account Type field, but I know that isn't the intended purpose of that feature and it is also only accessible in the Back Office.
I would like to be able to set the customer 'type' when creating customers in the Point of Sale.

I second Amy's request. I too sort my customers by renter, bike buyer, and several other categories (wine walk participant, fundraiser ride participant, etc). I need the Account Type, Email address, mailing address, phone to download when I use the Who Bought What When report (on a monthly basis) to upload it into Mailchimp for Customer Relations/marketing.

This is a great idea. Can I ask how you exported this for marketing purposes, I don't want to add a field which you then cannot use. Would adding it to the POS, backoffice and then allowing export via Cloud Reports (Excel) sort this problem?
We'd also add it as a field to the API (I've just added this so any customers who use the API are aware we'd do this).
Would you need to search this field in the POS or Backoffice? If so that would make the development more complex.
