Hello everyone! We're excited to share some fantastic new features in Cloud POS that have been developed based on your valuable feedback. Our Development Team have been hard at work to make it easier for you to find items within Cloud POS. Please bear in mind that we've still got a few changes to make to the layout and wording but we were keen to give you an advance look before we release it in our upcoming July release. You can watch the video here: https://www.loom.com/share/ba8a4d96ee074dc18c743a52955d11c1?sid=189c8167-6cae-4e50-9bed-2dde902f73dd

Toby (actually posting as Warren here) and I had a great call to discuss this post and a few others that had been raised. I am posting the explanation here for the benefit of other voters.
The issue was caused by the fact that the word 'bike' is not contained in the item Description. The word 'bike' comes from the Department field, which isn't matched in the Point of Sale 'Quick Search'. The issue was compounded by the fact that Pedego-brand bikes and components have similar names / keywords (e.g. Boomerang, Comfort Cruiser), meaning that a Quick Search for these keywords will bring up many different items, not just bikes.
We have a plan to move forward with this for Pedego dealers, which I am going to discuss directly with Pedego HQ. We'll contact all Pedego dealers with the outcome of that discussion so that you can improve your experience in searching for these items in your database.
If you're searching for items outside of the Pedego brand, and you're running into the same issue, remember you can always click into the full item search in the Point of Sale to add further criteria, including Department / Category. This is highlighted in the attached image.
We also have some exciting new features coming for the Point of Sale Quick Search in the July release which will smooth this experience even further. Keep an eye out for the release email, which is coming soon.

Agree! The more words in any order would be super helpful and decrease the amount of search time.

Warren,
In some areas this would impact performance, our product can deal with very large SKU and customer databases, and has no limit on the number of stores in a group, so we have some very large datasets.
All that said, could you let me know where this would be most useful and we could look into it.

Neil McQuillan We really need it in the initial search bar on the POS, and in the Advanced Free Search Area. When I'm trying to find a specific bike, I need to do so very quickly. And, I need my employees to be able to select the right bike very quickly. Quickbooks made this easy. we would type "Bike Boomerang 26 Red" and two choices would come up. A bike with spokes and a bike with mag wheels. However, when I type that in CL, I get nothing back. When I take the word "bike" out, I get toooooo many things. If Quickbooks can make their search feature work with millions of customers, some with very large data bases, then you all can make yours work more efficiently too. I have full confidence in you all.

I sent you an email conversation I've been having with Pedego and Zach (at Citrus-Lime). Let me know if you didn't get it. Hopefully, it will offer some more insight into the frustrations with the current search functionalities. Using the Department is not the answer, as my part-time employees are not going to memorize my backend work break down structure of departments and categories in order to find the item they are looking for. Heck, I cannot even remember all the departments and categories, especially on the fly in front of a customer who is waiting to pay. With 6 other people standing behind him/her waiting to rent a bike, and another waiting on us to check him out for the repairs we completed.

We'll pick this up internally here, so we don't all head off trying to resolve the same issue.
