Search by Serial Number When Selling a Bike or Battery
Toby K Selph Arnett
Problem: When we are selling a bike, we cannot scan it's barcode (which contains the serial number), and have it pop up on our screen. See attached screen shot of the first and second search features in the POS. Returns no items when the serial number is typed or scanned in.
Recommendation: Make the first and second search features find the serial numbers.
Why: This will make selling a bike (frame and battery) like all the other items in the store, just scan the bar code that is already on them. That way we are assured that the exact bike (frame and battery) is being rung as is going out the door. Without that, we are at the mercy of the our employees selecting the right bike. For example, they may select a bike with Rims (less expensive), when really it is a bike with Mags (more expensive), thus leaving the store $300 short on revenue. But, if they were able to scan the frame's bar code (picking up the serial number) and the battery's bar code (picking up its serial number), then the records would always be accurate.

I'll add my voice to this. Being able to scan a bike's serial number and find it's associated item in either the back office or POS would be very useful.

Allow Searches for Serial Numbers

We need to find bikes by serial numbers in our POS. Please make every search bar be able to find serial numbers. Please add a column to the advanced search for serial number.

Hi Toby,
Do you have this serial number set against an item in your system already? I did a quick search and I can't see it's been added.
Or was this just used in the screenshot as an example?
Thanks,
Suzy

Suzy Weightman I was looking a specific serial number, which in the system. LF21135865. I'm just starting to populate my existing inventory with serial numbers.

I second this! We need to be able to search for it when we're selling the item, to make sure the right bike or battery is being sold.

Hi Wayne,
You can use the Serial Number List in Cloud Reports to achieve this.
This allows you to filter for a specific serial number and has a link to the item card in the back office.
Thanks,
Suzy
