Ability to delete workshop jobs
planned
Suzy Weightman
Hi all,
My proposed change which we'll add to Workshop 2.0, is that we'll allow deletion of Workshop Jobs in their entirety (i.e. close the order too) - however, we'll have restrictions in place, so if the job has a deposit against it this won't be possible.
What do people think?
Thanks,
Suzy

Suzy Weightman I believe that would be a great addition/change. Adding restrictions is a great call!

Suzy Weightman Agree this method would work!

Suzy Weightman echoing a comment below somewhat - rather than delete, could it be 'archive', or both options? Often times we have workorders that customers decline but come back later and proceed with the work. Would be a time saver to not have to go through all the details again with the customer and gives us a better starting point on where we ended.
Obviously the inventory attached would need to be brought back into open stock.
We have just started deleted missed apppointments to clean up our Workshop module. Would LOVE to have records for customers who are habitual offenders.

Brent J Hi Brent,
When you "delete" from the Workshop, it would remove the workshop job and mark the order as Closed (removing any outstanding items). Similar to "Remove All Items" functionality in POS.
The order will still exist in the order history of the customer so you'd still be able to see them.
A better term to use might be "Cancel" orders.
Thanks,
Suzy

Not being able to delete jobs is really annoying. We get that this could be something to do with the integration with inventory or something but it's sooooo irritating. Sometimes the bookings are just nonsense or 'blockers' to get round other issues so we don't want these dead records.

This will be addressed as part of our upcoming workshop 2.0 overhaul.

The workshop module is in for a complete rewrite this year and this will be something we address. We produced the first workshop module for cycle, but its ready for a complete overhaul now, which we are really excited about.

This would save a LOT of work clearing jobs down or out

Hi all,
We've had a look into this, and we won't be able to delete the order in it's entirety. This is due to there being the possibility of a financial impact of closing the order (i.e. a deposit on the order), which would need to be manually addressed in the POS.
What I would like to propose as a change, is for us to add the ability to the delete the workshop job only - so this would remove the job from the workshop module, and would revert the order type to a Work Order.
Does this solve the problem for you?
Thanks,
Suzy

Suzy Weightman: Hi Suzy, I've been keeping an eye on this, I do worry workshop jobs can go missing if no real control over them which could in turn cause problems so a backup like going back to work order might help.
Or if we can set an administrator/user to delete permanently later on that would be useful. Don't want to complicate things but agree the current way is long winded but have reservations of deleting completely too. Given the fact users can log in on internet devices its better to have some form of back up. Just throwing it out there.
Thanks

Suzy Weightman: Is there a way that if a workshop job or work order does get deleted and has a deposit on it, the deposit can get transferred to the customers account and can use for other purchases in the future?

Cycle-R Admin There is the option to place a job on hold, which ought to achieve your aims with that one.

We expect this to move to planned nest week. There is a strong chance this will be in the July Cloud POS release if this is the case the status will change to planned next week.
