Add multiple items at once in Workshop Module

I know I would love this feature for quoting out drivetrains. To be able to search for "shimano ultegra" and then been able to just scroll through and select the ultegra parts I would like for this specific build.
Yes, this can be done as an assembly but then you would need a different assembly for every configuration of crank arm length/chainring combo and cassette combinations, not to mention bottom brackets.
I have run through this several times on the best way to accomplish this and there isn't a great way to do it because you are spending a great deal of time building the groupset no matter which way you choose to do it. I have done it as an assembly, done it as a generic line item and I have done it as individual items and none of them are great.
Adding the ability to select multiple items would at least make it much quicker once all of the items are in the system from the suppliers.
Thank you!

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your interest in this feature. Now that Workshop 2.0 is live (and the 'Set Item Price' functionality that Suzy has mentioned has also been implemented), we're keen to hear further thoughts on this.
At the moment, scanning multiple items to add them to Workshop Jobs is quick and efficient. However, when searching instead of scanning, each item must be selected and added individually (unless you choose to add an Assembly, which is a streamlined way of building out a service package, for example). One of the reasons for this is that it supports the functionality Suzy has mentioned — the ability to 'Prompt for price at Point of Sale'. This needs actioning per item.
The attached video demonstrates a Standard item (an example part) being added via the search, followed by an item where the 'Prompt for price at Point of Sale' setting has been enabled (a custom bike build charge).
If we were to change the workflow to allow for multiple items to be searched and added at once, how would you see this working on screen? Here are a few options to consider:
- price entry fields for items with 'Prompt for price at Point of Sale' could open after 'Add Item(s)' has been confirmed (one by one if necessary)
- items with 'Prompt for price at Point of Sale' enabled could be set to 0.00, requiring the staff member to amend the prices in the item grid after adding
- items with 'Prompt for price at Point of Sale' enabled could be excluded from the multi-select feature, with a warning message
Please do not feel limited to only discussing the options above. We are keen to hear your general thoughts on how multi-select could work for items in the Workshop.

Hi all,
We want to implement "Set Item Price" functionality in the Workshop for Workshop 2.0, so items with this configured will show the option to set the price where required.
This will conflict with adding multiple items at once, so I currently had planned for multi-selection to be off in the Workshop still.
Another option would be to allow multi-selection, but for any items with "Price must be entered" set these will just be added without that workflow in place?
Thanks,
Suzy

Can you not use assembly items to achieve this?

Agreed. It's rather ironic that it takes less time to service write a bike from the pos screen...
