The workshop now supports two way SMS

We've also added a search feature, you can see unread messages in bold, and indeed the status of the sent message (Sent/Delivered).

A quick screenshot of some progress in this area getting SMS replies back into the product.

Neil McQuillan: looks good! how will stores know when a customer has replied, is ther ean alerting system or do they have to manually check?
Neil McQuillan
Richard Twinn: We plan to have a list of customers with unread messages available in the POS, with a visual icon when their are unread messages.
This will then show a panel which lists customers with unread messages, you will be able to click into the customer, which will open them in the POS and then view the SMS conversation.
You'll likely see something similar in the backoffice for the new UI, I'm hoping we can do something similar with email (replies).
When I have a concept of the unread messages view I will share it.

Something like this will be available in POS.
So at the top of POS it would show 16 unread messages, when clicked it will show a list of customers with un-readed messages and you'll be able to open each customer account by clicking on them, I'm hoping we can both open the customer account and the SMS tray in one action.

Neil McQuillan: is there an ETA for this? March release?
Neil McQuillan
Richard Twinn: No it will follow on from that. Likely end of April as we are still working on the UI.
Server side plumbing all done so we don’t need to have a full release.

Richard,
This is on my radar as an idea as well.
We implemented a new SMS service provider last year, and we made sure their gateway supports two way communications, as well as meeting our other requirements for change over our old provider (better delivery rates, faster delivery speed, native network send, better logging and full international support).
The plumbing from both the ecommerce team (who own the SMS piece) and Cloud POS is not insignificant, and we're focused on online workshop bookings, adding next service date reminders (now live in this Cloud POS release) and drop off (you've not brought your bike in for your booked service yet) remembers at present, but this is something we'll add in the future. At the time of writing I'm not sure when :-)

Neil McQuillan: Thanks Neil, looking forward to the online workshop bookings (no pressure! :) )
