A quote can only be prepared by a qualified mechanic who has the ability to triage the bike, determine what parts are needed and properly price up the estimate. However, without scheduling time in the Workshop Diary, no quotes will get done.
We need to be able to add a request for quote to the Workshop Diary. At present we are doing a workaround using Workshop Jobs, but that has the effect of confusing everyone.
A Quote should have the following stages:
Triage: where the bike is assessed
Assess: where it has been Safety Checked, but parts are not readily available, so someone has to research what is needed and where it can be sourced from, which in some cases can take weeks.
Approval: Where the quote is ready and the Customer Service staff need to phone the customer to discuss the quote with them and gain their approval to proceed with the repairs, with of course the caveat that it is an estimate and subject to change should the mechanic find other issues once the bike is part dismantled during the repair process.
Proceed: The customer has agreed to the work (need the ability to add notes such as if the cost is more than £10 or 5% higher than the estimate, the customer must be called to confirm the extra cost is acceptable).
Only once the quote has been approved can it be converted to Woskhop Job.
