Feature Request: Ability to View Calendar When Rescheduling Workshop Jobs and Override Scheduling Warnings
I'd like to request an improvement to how the Workshop Module handles scheduling conflicts, particularly when changes to an existing Workshop Job cause it to extend beyond the mechanic's scheduled working hours.
Recently, I added additional work to an existing Workshop Job. The system correctly alerted me that the additional time would cause the job to extend beyond our mechanic's scheduled workday, which ends at 4:00 PM. I appreciate that warning, as it's helpful to know when we're exceeding our available workshop hours.
However, I encountered two issues:
1. Unable to Save Despite Allowing Jobs Outside Working Hours
In our Workshop Module settings, I have specifically enabled the option to allow jobs to be scheduled outside normal working hours.
Despite this setting, the system would not allow me to save the updated Workshop Job because it extended beyond our 4:00 PM closing time.
Could you please clarify why the system is preventing me from saving the job when I've explicitly enabled this setting?
Ideally, the system would display a warning but allow me to acknowledge and override it, consistent with our selected settings.
2. No Ability to View the Calendar While Rescheduling
When the system prevents me from saving the job, I need to find another available time slot. Unfortunately, I can't access the Workshop Calendar from that screen to see when our mechanic actually has availability.
Instead, I'm forced to select a different date and time essentially by trial and error, hoping the new time slot will work. This is inefficient and makes it unnecessarily difficult to manage our workshop schedule.
Requested Enhancement:
Would it be possible to provide either or both of the following?
  • Calendar Access:
Allow users to open the Workshop Calendar directly from the scheduling screen, ideally in a pop-out or side-by-side view, so we can see existing bookings and select an appropriate available time.
  • Warning Override:
Allow users to acknowledge and override scheduling warnings, particularly when the system settings already permit scheduling outside normal working hours.
Ultimately, the goal is to make scheduling and rescheduling Workshop Jobs more intuitive and efficient. We should be able to see our mechanic's availability before selecting a new time, rather than repeatedly guessing until the system accepts a date and time.
I appreciate the scheduling safeguards built into Citrus-Lime, and I'm not suggesting they be eliminated. Rather, I'd like them to work in conjunction with the flexibility retailers have already selected in their settings.
Thank you for considering these improvements. I believe they would make a meaningful difference in the day-to-day management of a busy workshop.
