Workshop holidays

Hi, it feels like adding a holiday to the workshop diary is slower and clunkier than it was previously. Could a quick 'add holiday' be added to the calendar view without having to go to the holiday tab and creating it that way?
We use the holiday function to block out sections of the calendar when we know we have fewer mechanics in that usual that day, for whatever reason (or if we're closed eg on a bank holiday where we'd usually be open)
Actually would it be possible to edit the amount of work that could be dragged on to a particular day to avoid needin to do this? We have our workshop hours set for each week based on who is in, but on an ad-hoc basis it would be good to quickly and easily be able to change this
Thanks

Just responding to you tagging me Emma - Citrus-Lime My comment was just about making it clearer when there are mechanic's off as I have overbooked the workshop a couple of times as it wasn't as clear as it could be that 2 mechanics were off that day. I'm not sure of the answer but just hoping it can be a bit clearer. Sometimes out guys put in a time from and to, as their holiday, hoping to avoid it dominating the page but it can then cause it to dissapear off screen. I mostly use week view if that helps.

Hi everyone
Thank you for sharing your feedback on Workshop 2.0.
We've had a few requests that are related to holidays, so I've merged another post into this one so that we can keep everything in one place. I will also be tagging some additional users who have mentioned holidays in other posts.
I will address each request in turn here. Please share your further thoughts so that we can incorporate these into our discussions here at Citrus-Lime.
1) A request for an 'Add Holiday' button instead of locating this within a separate tab
Adam - are you thinking this would be on the Calendar view specifically, since holidays are not designed to be visible on the Board view?
If we went down this route, I feel the tab would still be useful for viewing a summary of all booked holidays across the diary. Would you agree?
2) Make adding holidays quicker
Andrew - What are your thoughts on an 'All Day' option/toggle when creating a holiday, which would default the holiday to the Workshop Opening Hours on the specified day / days?
3) If a holiday block is present, this should prevent jobs being scheduled
lukas - you mentioned this idea as part of a separate post on Workshop 2.0. I presume you mean that you would want this to prevent jobs being scheduled for that specific mechanic? We are aware that some Workshop users utilise holidays for other purposes, so an all-out block might not work for everyone. What are your thoughts on a warning box, along the lines of "There is booked holiday for this mechanic at this time. Are you sure you want to schedule this job?" with a Yes / No selector. Please let us know your thoughts on this.
4) Regular days off for specific Mechanics
Workshop - James, this was your request as part of another post. Are you envisaging that this could be added to the Mechanics setup page in the Back Office? If so, what would be your preferred behaviour if certain days/times were not within a mechanic's working hours? For example, would you envisage those times being automatically 'blocked out' in that mechanic's diary in Calendar view, in the same way that we grey out the hours outside the Workshop Opening Hours? Or that blocks of 'Not Working' were added, similar to holiday blocks (but in a different colour, perhaps).
Anyone is welcome to comment here, aside from those specifically tagged.

Emma - Citrus-Lime Thanks for your reply Emma, great to hear this is something that might be looked at.
I was thinking on Calendar view, yes. We pretty much use calendar view exclusively so the ability to quickly add a holiday from that view would be very handy. When usually have two tabs open, one showing the current week in calendar view, and another showing the week that we next have availability for service work, so it's really handy to be able to quickly add in either a day of holiday for a particular mechanic, or just a blank holiday with no mechanic attached which we use to 'block out' the workshop diary for a particular day/time if we know we're booking in a reduced workload.
Do you think it would be possible to adjust the available workshop hours for a particular day on an ad-hoc basis? Quite often we change from our core hours so use the workaround mentioned above, when it would be better if we could grey out an entire day to avoid things being booked in.

Emma - Citrus-Lime Yes an all day toggle would be great for individual mechanics not days in general. Some of my Mechanics only work part time so adding lots of holidays can take too long. The old workshop module would save the last used times on the holiday as well so that you just adjusted the date which was easier.

Agreed, the old method was much quicker and you could see the calendar as you were booking it!
