Please can we make the MailChimp API call 'real-time' if its not already. When talking to Support team I was told new customers who create accounts via ecomm are only passed to MC via a batch process. This means they have to wait for confirmation of their account creation/welcome email.
Faling this could you make it poll at least every 15 or 30 mins.
Thanks

I can't believe how many posts there are about Mailchimp, some of them going back as far as 2019, which really points to the fact that the integration and the way email data is handled requires a major improvement.
It's all very well for CL to be advertising seamless Mailchimp integration but the reality is, is that it doesn't work very well and costs a fortune. I have been trying to get somewhere with Customer Support with both CL and Mailchimp but not getting very far.
I have created a request about this and would suggest that you put your weight behind it a vote on it so we can get these much needed improvements underway.

Neil McQuillan: thanks Neil, that's great news!!

Totally agree with this one. These days when you sign up for a newsletter (particularly when there is a sweetener offer attached to the signup) the expectation is to receive confirmation, and the offer straight away. We would want customers to receive the confirmation and be able to use any linked offer straight away rather than waiting overnight and potentially cooling off and abandoning.

Mark Rose: Richard Horsley I hadn't realised this wawasn'tsnt the case! Thanks for raising the suggestion. We have recently set up our mailchimp integration and are heavily utilising the automation functions... so this will be pretty painful if itit'ss not sending it straight away.

Pauls Cycles: I'll take a look at the code next week.
It uploads customers with orders in realtime, and the same with anyone who builds a basket.
Newsletter signups currently go nightly as we upload any accounts which have changed in any way each night.

Neil McQuillan: Hi Neil - Can you clarify how the upload identifies those that have "opted in" during the checkout and those that have not? At the moment all of those that are upload as a result of customer orders or basket building are labelled as subscriber. Is there anyway to differentiate so we can set up a double opt in automation for them once they join the list.
Neil McQuillan
Paul: If they have not provided GDPR consent that field will not be set. Basket uploads therefore won't show a GDPR consent field, this is a MailChimp merge field. All emails need to show as a subscriber otherwise they're seen as opted out of the list and will receive no emails at all.
Unsubscribing is a hard - don't ever email me. e.g. Someone who HAS given GDPR consent and then decides to opt out won't get basket abandonment messages. This is the safest way to ensure compliance with general email legislation.
How you use the / respect the GDPR field is up to you it's a commercial decision.
Some of our customers pretty much ignore it and send their general marketing messages to all, relying on optout.
Others will send transactional messages (e.g. basket abandonments / thank you for your order)
Others will send nothing unless they have consent.

Neil McQuillan: Thanks for that Neil. That is the column signified by a 0 or 1? Presumably with 1 meaning they have opted in?
