New webhook EventType for Postage Purchased
Biagio Santoro
Currently the only way to create automatic shipping tracking emails is through the setup of Mandrill via Mailchimp. This is handled internally by the Support Team.
The only restriction with this setup is you cannot have a separate subscription for Mandrill (essentially you must be a paying customer of Mailchimp to access Mandrill, effectively locking you in a subscription with Mailchimp).
If we were to have the possibility to subscribe to a web-hook event for whenever postage is purchased, and with the webhoook returning essentially the same data as it currently does to Mandrill, it would allow customers who may want a different provider to create their own custom setup.

Thats interesting, this might be worth a look but currently there are no plans to upload consignment information.

I'll have a think on this one, the webhook idea is a good one, but I'm not sure its that technically feasible but perhaps we could use another provider other than Mandrill, when this was implemented a MailChimp account was not mandatory.

Neil McQuillan - CEO Citrus-Lime thanks for the reply! I did think when you implemented Mandrill you didn't need Mailchimp. Looking at Omnisend they appear to be a marketing first platform and specifically state they are not to be compared to Mandrill however I can see the point you make.
To give more context this would mainly benefit companies who may be using Salesfire for their email marketing (something they just launched) and would like a transactional email platform to take care of other development needs and overall have a simple API / SMTP server to send automatic emails with. (If that makes sense).
I would love to chat more about this, if you would like shoot me an email on ecommerce@cyclerevolution.net
