Check availability option has negative impact on Coming soon/ pre-launch products.

When a customer looks at a product page and sees what they looking for/want and clicks the check availability, if the item is a pre-launch/coming soon, all the customer sees is OUT OF STOCK and quite likely to move on to another site. So potential lost sale as that item maybe coming in next day or so. Yes they could click view in product page and then see the the details saying when expected in. About 2 years ago or so, pre-launch was called coming soon ( i think "coming soon" is the better and customer friendly wording) and when a customer clicked view product it would say "coming soon" on every line attribute of the product. So long/short I can see lost sales and possibly of people not coming back again when product does come in. Please bring that option back

Neil McQuillan - CEO Citrus-Lime I have just been thinking about this again - Would it not be an improvement for it to display "Notify Me - XL £3999.99" rather than "Out of Stock". A lot of our customers dont realise there are even alerts possible as there is nothing to suggest this prior to selecting an "out of stock" item... Which very few are going to do. I understand the point that if it is discontinued or not being restocked then this causes a waste of the customers time however I personally feel it is better to capture the potential contact (and as someone else mentioned - disable those you definitely aren't restocking) and equally, if you werent planning to restock, sometimes a peep at how many people are waiting on a certain product in your notifications report is useful to get a view of demand, and you might change your plan.

Good to hear from you. This section is shortly to be redesigned so it acts as a C&C store finder removing the clash with prelaunch.
In the new year we plan to allow dealers to sell from forward order purchase orders, you can select which purchase orders and the site will 'see' the stock on the purchase order allowing sales from the PO the lead times recalculate based on the purchase order due date.
We are running this as a trial with a couple of retailers and initial results are excellent but we have more to do before this is ready for the mass market.
